Sixth State Finance Commission Meets with Odisha CM Majhi; Launches New Website

Bhubaneswar, 16 June (OT Webdesk): The Sixth State Finance Commission met with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today to seek his valuable suggestions for strengthening local bodies in the state.

During this occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the website of the Odisha State Finance Commission (https://sfc.odisha.gov.in).

This website has been designed to collect suggestions and feedback from elected representatives, Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis, Zilla Parishads, Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, Notified Area Councils, intellectuals, universities and research organisations, civil society organisations, and individuals. It includes information on previous and current State Finance Commissions, study reports, and documentation from earlier commissions for public reference.

Present at the meeting were Dr. Arun Kumar Panda, Chairman of the Sixth State Finance Commission; Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja; Principal Secretary of Finance Saswata Mishra; Principal Secretary of Electronics & Information Technology Vishal Kumar Dev; and commission members Prof. Asit Ranjan Mohanty, Prof. Amaresh Samantaraya, and Dr. Bibhu Prasad Nayak, along with Member Secretary Dr. Satya Priya Rath.

It is noteworthy that, in accordance with Article 243-I and Article 243-Y of the Constitution of India, the Hon’ble Governor has constituted the Sixth State Finance Commission, chaired by Dr. Arun Kumar Panda. This commission will make recommendations regarding the transfer of resources from the State Government to local bodies (including Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis, Zilla Parishads, Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, and Notified Area Councils) for five years, starting from April 1, 2026.
