Signature Packaged Drinking Water Plants 30,000 Mangrove Saplings to Restore Odisha’s Coastline

18 May 2026, Odisha, India: Signature Packaged Drinking Water has launched a three-year Mangrove Regeneration Project in Astaranga, Odisha – a community-led initiative spanning five coastal villages along the state’s eastern coastline.

The project is actively restoring over 62 acres of degraded land, planting more than 30,000 mangrove saplings, and building sustainable livelihood programmes for local communities.

Mangroves absorb up to four times more carbon dioxide than rainforests, protect coastlines from erosion, and preserve biodiversity, yet they remain among the world’s most threatened ecosystems.

This initiative addresses that urgency head-on, converting Signature Packaged Drinking Water’s environmental commitment into concrete, measurable action on the ground.

“The Mangrove Regeneration Project in Odisha is a powerful expression of what we stand for – community-driven action, ongoing commitment, and meaningful environmental progress.

With ‘One With Nature’, we are celebrating the quiet strength of ecosystems like mangroves and the people working every day to protect them,” said Aanandita Datta, Vice President & Portfolio Head – Marketing, Diageo India.

The project is a direct expression of Signature Packaged Drinking Water’s ‘One With Nature’ brand philosophy, a belief that environmental progress must be driven by communities, sustained over time, and grounded in genuine ecological impact.

Rather than treating conservation as a campaign, Signature Packaged Drinking Water has embedded itself in the daily reality of coastal villages, pairing restoration efforts with support for local livelihoods.

To bring this story to a wider audience, Signature Packaged Drinking Water launched “The Mangroves Regeneration Pledge” – a brand film featuring ambassador Ayushmann Khurrana.

Told through immersive visuals and Ayushmann’s resonant voice, the film brings to life the on-ground realities of climate change, resilience, and the communities driving grassroots conservation along India’s coastline.
