Puri Police Arrest 11 for Fraudulent Darshan Arrangements at Jagannath Temple
Puri Police have arrested 11 individuals over the past five days for allegedly extorting money from devotees by promising quick access to Lord Jagannath’s darshan inside the Shree Jagannath Temple.
According to officials, the accused were found near temple gates collecting money from unsuspecting devotees and assuring them of priority entry.
A case has been registered at Singhadwar Police Station, and surveillance around the temple has been intensified with additional personnel deployed.
Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh clarified that darshan of Lord Jagannath is completely free and urged devotees not to fall prey to fraudulent claims.
Authorities have strengthened monitoring at entry points and are coordinating with temple administration to prevent recurrence.
The arrests come just weeks ahead of the annual Rath Yatra, when pilgrim numbers surge, making vigilance crucial to safeguard devotees’ faith and ensure smooth temple management.
