Odisha Vigilance Arrests OPHWC Deputy Manager with Crores in Assets

Sambalpur: Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Bidyut Ranjan Bhol, Deputy Manager of OPHWC Sambalpur Division, near Sambalpur Railway Station, after he was found carrying Rs 5.18 lakh in cash without a valid explanation.

Following his arrest, simultaneous raids were conducted in Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, and Bhanjanagar.

Investigators uncovered disproportionate assets, including two multi‑storeyed buildings, one flat in Bhubaneswar, 29 plots across Jatni and Berhampur, 1.140 kg of gold coins and biscuits, Rs 48.79 lakh in cash, and Rs 30 lakh in bank deposits.

Additional investments are under verification.

Bhol, who joined government service in 1998 with a salary of Rs 7,000, now faces charges under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

He will be produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.

The investigation continues to assess the full extent of his wealth.
