Odisha Vigilance Arrests Ex‑MD of Betnoti LAMPCS in ₹40.94 Lakh Misappropriation Case
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials have arrested Himanshu Das, former Managing Director of Betnoti LAMPCS in Mayurbhanj district, for allegedly misappropriating Rs 40.94 lakh during 2017–18.
According to investigators, Das collected funds from farmers for loan repayments, share capital, fees, and other charges.
While receipts were issued, the transactions were not recorded in the society’s Day Book. Officials allege that Das diverted the money for personal use.
A case has been registered at Baleshwar Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 12, dated 30 July 2026) under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(c) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 409 of the IPC for criminal breach of trust.
Das, who was dismissed from government service in April 2022, is being produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance Court, Baripada.
Vigilance authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
This case underscores growing concerns over corruption in cooperative societies, particularly involving funds collected from farmers.
