Odisha Vigilance Arrests ASI for Accepting ₹8,000 Bribe in Angul
Angul: Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Assistant Sub‑Inspector (ASI) Sita Nayak of Jarapada Police Station after she was caught red‑handed accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000.
According to reports, Nayak had allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 from a complainant to settle a case, later reducing the demand to Rs 8,000.
Acting on the complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and apprehended her inside the police station while she accepted the cash.
The entire bribe amount was recovered from her possession. Following the arrest, searches were conducted at two locations linked to Nayak to detect disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, at Cuttack Vigilance Police Station. The investigation is currently underway.
