Odisha to Host State-Level Gita Chanting Competition in Puri | December 2026
The Department of Higher Education has announced that Odisha will host the State-Level Geeta Chanting Competition and Geeta Jnana Pariksha for students across schools, colleges, and universities.
The chanting contest will focus on the sixth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, Atmasamyam Yoga, and will be held on December 26–27, 2026, at Hariharananda Gurukulam, Balighai, Puri district.
Winners of district-level competitions will qualify for the state-level event, where top performers will be awarded one-year scholarships.
Participation in the chanting contest is free, while the Geeta Jnana Pariksha requires online registration and exam fees.
The Department has urged institutions to encourage participation, and an Odia booklet prepared by the organisers has been circulated to aid students.
The initiative aims to deepen students’ engagement with spiritual texts while offering academic recognition and rewards.
