Odisha STF Launches Four-Pronged Strategy to Eradicate Cannabis Cultivation

The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police has unveiled a comprehensive four-pronged strategy to eliminate cannabis cultivation across six hotspot districts.

Chaired by Inspector General Himanshu Lal, a high-level meeting with senior police and Narcotics Control Bureau officials emphasised strict enforcement, community awareness, technology-driven surveillance, and alternative livelihood programs.

District SPs have been assigned specific targets and timelines, with monthly reviews planned to ensure accountability.

The initiative, part of the Nasha Mukt Odisha Abhijan, aims to dismantle drug syndicates, freeze assets, and discourage illicit farming through awareness campaigns and socio-economic support.

Advanced tools like drones and satellite imagery will be deployed to monitor forest pockets, while livelihood schemes will provide sustainable options for affected communities.
