Odisha Showcases Integrated Water Resources Management Model at IIWW 2026
Odisha has positioned itself as a national leader in integrated water governance by presenting its innovative water management model at the 9th India International Water Week (IIWW-2026) in New Delhi.
The state, a Partner State at the event, highlighted its climate-resilient strategies under the theme “Climate Resilient Water Management.”
Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil inaugurated the Odisha pavilion, which featured advanced irrigation technologies, community-driven conservation initiatives, and digital success stories of farmers.
Principal Secretary (Water Resources) Shubha Sarma co-chaired a session with Denmark’s Ambassador, emphasising Indo-Danish collaboration on coastal resilience and sustainable water technologies.
Key highlights included the Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture (OIIPCRA), covering 538 minor irrigation tanks across 15 districts, and the Kanupur Irrigation Project, which demonstrates modern water storage and conveyance systems.
The pavilion also showcased innovations such as soil moisture sensors, integrated rice-fish farming, automatic wetting/drying equipment, and climate-resilient seed varieties.
Interactive corners engaged visitors with quizzes, awareness activities, and a Water Conservation Pledge Wall.
By combining technology, community participation, and climate adaptation, Odisha’s model sets a benchmark for sustainable water governance in India.
