Odisha Sees 22.27 Lakh Farmers Register for Paddy Sale

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has recorded a significant rise in farmer participation in paddy sales this Kharif season.

According to official data, 22.27 lakh farmers have registered to sell their produce in 2026–27, marking a 13% increase over last year.

Registrations were facilitated through 2,962 cooperative societies, 35 Women’s Self‑Help Groups (WSHGs), and 4 Pani Panchayats, ensuring wide coverage across the state.

Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta informed the Assembly that no complaints of exclusion have been reported.

However, flood‑affected districts saw reduced participation, with 301 farmers in Baleshwar and 1,480 in Bhadrak unable to register.

Despite these setbacks, the overall growth highlights Odisha’s expanding cooperative network and the government’s efforts to streamline procurement.
