Odisha Police Rescues 5,451 Missing Persons in Statewide Operation

Bhubaneswar: In a landmark achievement, the Odisha Police has successfully rescued 5,451 missing persons during its intensive statewide drive, Operation Anveshan-2, conducted between January 21–30, 2026.

The operation, spearheaded under the leadership of DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, focused on locating vulnerable individuals, including minors and women, who had gone missing due to trafficking, abductions, or other circumstances.

According to official data, the rescued individuals include 77 minor boys, 709 minor girls, and 4,665 women.

District-wise, Puri topped the list with 613 rescues, followed by Cuttack (501) and Bhadrak (429). Other districts such as Ganjam, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bargarh, and Angul also reported significant contributions.

The coordinated effort involved district police units, railway police, and urban police, ensuring swift identification and safe return of missing persons to their families.

DGP Khurania emphasised that the initiative not only reunites families but also sets a national benchmark for similar rescue operations.

He further announced that such drives will be intensified in the future to strengthen Odisha’s safety and rescue mechanisms.

This large-scale success underscores the Odisha Police’s commitment to community welfare, public safety, and proactive policing, inspiring confidence among citizens and offering a model for other states to emulate.
