With Debasnana Purnima scheduled for June 29, 2026, the Odisha Police has initiated extensive security measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the ritual at Puri’s Jagannath Temple.
Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania chaired a high‑level meeting at police headquarters in Cuttack, focusing on crowd management, traffic regulation, and overall safety during the Snana Yatra and the upcoming Rath Yatra.
According to the plan, 72 platoons of police force will be deployed, supported by six SPs/Commandants, 17 Additional SPs, 42 DSPs, 94 Inspectors, 352 SI/ASI, 53 Havildars, and 428 Constables.
Independent barricades will be erected to streamline darshan at the Snana Mandap, while advanced CCTV monitoring will cover temple premises and barricaded zones.
Special crack teams, anti‑snatching squads, and striking forces will remain on standby to handle emergencies.
Senior officials from intelligence, law and order, coastal security, transport, and crime branch attended the review meeting, with the district administration tasked to coordinate closely with police.
The Odisha Police emphasised that the layered security strategy aims to safeguard devotees and maintain order during one of Puri’s most significant religious events.
