Odisha Govt Announces Immediate Compensation for Rain-Hit Houses and Farmlands

Odisha Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari has announced that the state government will provide immediate compensation to households and farmers affected by heavy rainfall across several districts.

Even if a single house or farmland in a block is damaged, compensation will be extended.

Districts such as Balangir, Cuttack, and coastal regions have reported significant damage, with vulnerable residents relocated to shelter homes and provided food.

Collectors in rain‑hit districts have been directed to submit detailed damage reports, including beneficiaries’ bank account details, to ensure direct online transfer of funds.

The government has also assured assistance for crop losses, particularly when damage occurs at the start of the cultivation season, aiming to safeguard farmers’ livelihoods during this critical period.
