Odisha Devotees Outraged Over Saree Featuring Lord Jagannath

Bhubaneswar: A saree featuring Lord Jagannath’s image has sparked widespread outrage across Odisha.

The saree, advertised online by Sonai Store for Rs 749, displayed Mahaprabhu’s image along with depictions of the three chariots and deities on its border.

Devotees, Jagannath lovers, and servitors condemned the design, calling it a disrespectful use of the revered deity’s image.

Many demanded immediate removal of the product and urged the Shree Jagannath Temple administration to take strict action against such commercialisation.

The incident has ignited a heated debate on social media, with critics arguing that the sanctity of Lord Jagannath must be preserved at all costs.

Religious leaders reiterated that Jagannath’s image should never be used for promotional or commercial purposes, warning that such practices hurt cultural and spiritual sentiments.

This controversy adds to growing concerns about the misuse of Jagannath’s image in apparel and promotional products, highlighting the need for stronger safeguards to protect Odisha’s cultural heritage.
