Odisha CM Grants ₹10 Lakh Aid to Families of Puri Devotees

Puri witnessed a tragic incident on July 16 when two devotees—Anil Das from Cuttack and Ashok Subare Raikar from Mumbai—passed away while undergoing treatment for health complications.

In response, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep condolences and announced an ex‑gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh each to the bereaved families.

The financial assistance will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), which serves as a crucial support mechanism during emergencies.

The CM’s swift action underscores the state government’s commitment to extending immediate relief to citizens and visitors alike, ensuring that families receive both financial and emotional support in times of crisis.

This announcement highlights the importance of robust welfare measures in pilgrimage destinations like Puri, where large gatherings often pose health and safety challenges.
