Odisha Chief Secretary Reaffirms Global Disaster Resilience After BRICS DRR Meet

Bhubaneswar, June 2026: Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg met with NDMA members Dr Krishna S. Vatsa and Rita Missal, along with Special Relief Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, at Lok Seva Bhawan following the BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) technical meeting in Puri.

During the briefing, NDMA officials shared key deliberations and outcomes of the BRICS DRR sessions.

The Chief Secretary reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to global disaster resilience, emphasising preparedness, effective response, and adoption of international best practices.

Odisha’s achievements in cyclone preparedness, early warning systems, and community participation were highlighted as exemplary models of disaster management.

These efforts have earned Odisha recognition at both national and international levels, positioning the state as a leader in disaster risk reduction.
