Odisha Assembly Seeks Report on MLA Manorama Mohanty’s Privilege Motion

Bhubaneswar: Narla MLA Manorama Mohanty has filed a privilege motion against Kesinga SDPO and his police team, alleging forcible entry into her official residence during the Assembly session.

According to her complaint, the officers damaged property and misbehaved with her daughter and domestic help.

Acting on the Speaker’s directive, the Assembly Secretariat has asked the Home Department to submit a detailed report within 15 days.

The communication, dated July 28, 2026, underscores urgency and accountability in safeguarding legislative privilege.

This marks a rare instance of a sitting MLA invoking privilege against law enforcement personnel.

The Home Department’s report will be placed before the Speaker for further consideration.
