Odia HOD Removed at FM College After Student Complaint

Balasore, April 14: In a swift administrative move, Dr Santosh Kumar Nayak, Assistant Professor of Odia at Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College, Balasore, was removed from his position as Head of Department (HOD) following a student’s formal complaint.

The complaint, lodged on April 6, 2026, reached the Principal’s office the same day. Acting promptly, the Regional Director of Education issued a letter on April 7, confirming Dr Nayak’s removal.

The college’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) has been directed to conduct an impartial probe.

The student has been asked to appear before the committee and submit supporting evidence.

While the nature of the allegations remains undisclosed, officials emphasised confidentiality and adherence to due process.

This incident highlights the growing emphasis on student grievance redressal and accountability in Odisha’s higher education institutions, especially in light of past controversies at FM College.

The ICC’s findings are awaited by the college community.
