Nirakarpur Infant Theft Case: Father Stages Fake Abduction, Baby Rescued

Bhubaneswar/Khurda: In a shocking twist to the alleged infant theft case at Nirakarpur Railway Station, police have revealed that the father himself staged the abduction.

Prashant Kumar Pradhan had lodged a complaint claiming his four‑month‑old baby was stolen while he and his second wife were asleep at the station.

However, investigations by the Government Railway Police (GRP) uncovered that Pradhan secretly took the child and handed him over to his first wife at his ancestral home in Kalamatia village, Nayagarh district.

The infant, born to Pradhan’s relationship with his second wife (who is also the younger sister of his first wife), was rescued late Tuesday night.

Authorities are probing the motive behind the staged abduction, which has raised serious questions about family disputes and deceptive complaints.

Police confirmed that swift action led to the safe recovery of the child, while further investigation continues.
