Naveen Patnaik Hails Gen Z’s Victory for Democracy After Pradhan Exit

Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik hailed the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as a “victory for democracy,” crediting India’s Gen Z for their relentless protests against alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.

Patnaik emphasised that accountability and sensitivity to public opinion are the cornerstones of democratic governance.

“Nobody is above the will of the people,” he remarked, underscoring that the youth have proven their power to shape the nation’s future.

The resignation followed weeks of student-led demonstrations across Delhi and other cities, demanding transparency and responsibility in the conduct of national entrance exams.

Patnaik framed the development as a reminder that democratic institutions respond when citizens, especially young voices, rise in unison.

He further noted that the episode transcends party politics, symbolising the strength of India’s democracy and the central role of its youth in safeguarding fairness and justice.
