Manmohan Samal, Dilip Ray, Santrupt Misra Sworn In Odia
In a proud moment for Odisha, three newly elected Rajya Sabha MPs — Manmohan Samal (BJP), Dilip Kumar Ray (Independent backed by BJP), and Santrupt Misra (BJD) — took their oath in Odia at the Parliament.
The ceremony was administered by Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan, in the presence of Deputy Chairman Harivansh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.
The elections for four Rajya Sabha seats from Odisha were held on March 16, 2026, resulting in victories for Manmohan Samal, Sujeet Kumar (BJP), Dilip Kumar Ray, and Santrupt Misra.
However, Sujeet Kumar’s absence from the oath ceremony raised questions.
The event was widely seen as a celebration of Odisha’s cultural and linguistic heritage, reinforcing the importance of regional identity in national politics.
