Odisha Govt Forms Special Development Councils in 23 Districts

The Odisha government has announced the formation of Special Development Councils (SDCs) across 23 districts to strengthen tribal identity, preserve culture, and promote inclusive development.

Each district will have two representatives — a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman — who will oversee initiatives aimed at safeguarding traditions and ensuring grassroots participation in governance.

The councils are expected to play a pivotal role in integrating tribal heritage into the state’s growth narrative, while also addressing local needs through sustainable development programs.
