Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar Marks World Heart Day with Focus on Early Heart Health Checks and Prevention

Bhubaneswar, September 29, 2026: On the occasion of World Heart Day, Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar organised a heart health awareness programme focused on the importance of early health checks, timely intervention and adopting healthier lifestyle habits to protect cardiovascular health.

Around 100 participants from the Rotary Club, Inner Wheel Radiant,Khandagiri Welfare society,Satyasai enclave and neighbouring communities joined the programme, interacting with the hospital’s Cardiac Sciences team on ways to protect heart health.

The session highlighted the importance of early warning signs, timely health checks and healthier lifestyle choices, reinforcing the World Heart Day message to “Don’t Miss a Beat.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Saktimaya Mohapatra, Cluster Director, Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar, said, “Heart health should be a priority at every stage of life.

Regular health checks and simple lifestyle changes can help identify risks early and support timely care.”

Dr J K Padhi, Senior Consultant & Director, Interventional Cardiology, said, “Regular screening can help identify cardiovascular risk factors before they become serious.

People should be proactive about checking their blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol levels.”

Dr Jitendra Nath Patnaik, Senior Consultant, CTVS, said, “Timely diagnosis and treatment can make a significant difference in cardiac care.

Recognising warning signs and seeking medical attention without delay is important.”

Dr Mahesh Agrawala, Consultant, Interventional Cardiology, said, “Heart disease does not always present with obvious symptoms.

Regular health checks and awareness about potential warning signs can help people take timely action.”

Dr Pradeep Kumar Dash, Consultant, Interventional Cardiology, said, “Small, consistent changes in our daily routine can contribute to better heart health.

Physical activity, a balanced diet and regular health monitoring are important steps towards prevention.”

Dr Dibya Ranjan Behera, Consultant, Interventional Cardiology, said, “Heart health is closely connected to our everyday habits.

Staying active, eating well and managing risk factors can go a long way in protecting the heart.”

Dr Biswajeet Mohapatra, Consultant, CTVS, said, “Prevention and timely treatment are both important in cardiac care.

Individuals with risk factors or a family history of heart disease should discuss appropriate screening with their doctors.”

 The Rotary Club Bhubaneswar Eco also felicitated the Cardiac Sciences and Anaesthesia teams, including Dr Vivek Chowdhry, Consultant – Cardiac Anaesthesiologist, and Dr Braja Mohan Rath, Senior Consultant – Cardiac Anaesthesiologist, in recognition of their contribution to cardiac care.

The programme concluded with a health awareness talk, interactive Q&A and media interaction, where participants engaged with cardiac specialists on heart health concerns.

The session emphasised the importance of regular monitoring and timely care, particularly for those with risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, smoking and a family history of heart disease.

The World Heart Day programme by Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar reinforced the importance of staying alert to early signs, getting timely health checks and taking proactive steps to protect every heartbeat, encouraging the community to make heart health a regular priority.
