Mahashivratri 2026: Odisha Leaders Extend Greetings, Invoke Lord Shiva’s Blessings
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s political leadership came together on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri to extend heartfelt greetings to the people of the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi invoked Lord Shiva’s blessings for peace, prosperity, and harmony, while Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida emphasised happiness and the removal of darkness through divine grace.
Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik also joined in wishing the people of Odisha, highlighting the festival’s spiritual significance.
Across India, millions of devotees thronged Shiva temples, participating in rituals, night-long prayers, and holy dips. Elaborate security and administrative measures ensured smooth darshan at major pilgrimage sites.
Mahashivratri, commemorating the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, remains one of Hinduism’s most revered festivals, symbolising devotion, spiritual awakening, and prosperity.
