Maharashtra FDA Seizes Food Stock Worth ₹9 Crore; Patanjali Ghee Among Products Confiscated

Mumbai: In a major crackdown ahead of the festive season, Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seized food products worth over ₹9 crore during statewide enforcement operations.

The seized stock reportedly included Patanjali ghee and other food items suspected of violating food safety norms.

As part of the intensified drive against unsafe and substandard food products, authorities conducted inspections across multiple food business establishments.

The operation resulted in the suspension of licenses of 19 food business operators, signalling a strict approach toward food safety compliance.

Officials said the action was taken as part of a broader initiative to ensure consumers receive safe and quality food products during the festive season.

The raids targeted businesses suspected of violating food safety regulations and selling products that failed to meet prescribed standards.

The Maharashtra FDA has urged food businesses to adhere strictly to licensing requirements and quality standards, warning that further violations will invite stringent legal action.

The department has also appealed to consumers to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of food adulteration or unsafe food products.

The crackdown highlights the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen food safety enforcement and protect public health through regular inspections and monitoring of the food supply chain.
