Kendujhar Labour Officer Nabbed by Odisha Vigilance for Rs.20,000 Bribe
Odisha Vigilance today apprehended Akash Bisoi, OLS‑1, District Labour Officer (DLO), Kendujhar, while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from an electrical contractor for granting a labour licence.
The contractor, engaged in electrical installation works by TPNODL, had applied online on August 14, 2026, for a labour licence under Labour & ESI Department rules.
On August 16, Bisoi allegedly demanded Rs.20,000 to process the licence.
The contractor reported the matter to vigilance authorities, citing harassment.
Acting on the complaint, a vigilance team caught Bisoi red-handed this evening while receiving the bribe.
Officials recovered the entire tainted amount from his possession.
Following the trap, searches are underway at two locations linked to Bisoi to investigate disproportionate assets.
Baleshwar Vigilance PS registered Case No. 18/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Investigation against Bisoi is ongoing.
