Illegal Excavation and Railway Material Theft Reported in Barbil: Police Probe Underway

Kendujhar: A serious case of unauthorised excavation and removal of government/railway property has been registered at Barbil Police Station (Case No. 367, dated 28.08.2026) under sections 329(3)/303(2)/324(5)/3(5) BNS and 3 of the PDPP Act.

The FIR was lodged following a written complaint from the Tahasildar, Badabil, alleging that individuals linked to AM/NS, reportedly led by Abhinab Haldar, carried out excavation using heavy machinery without permission from the competent authority.

The complaint further states that despite prior warnings, the group proceeded with the activity.

It is also alleged that railway tracks and other materials were removed from the government land, causing significant financial loss to the state.

The land in question had earlier been leased to BPME, but the lease expired in 2009.

Police have initiated a thorough investigation to identify all persons involved, verify the machinery used, and assess the materials removed.

The authorities have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken against those found guilty, based on the evidence collected.

The IIC of Badabil Police Station confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and all aspects of the case are being examined in detail.
