Kendrapara Sarpanch Arrested After Block Office Disturbance
Kendrapara: Tikhiri Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Chameli Ojha was arrested following a dramatic disturbance at the Mahakalpara Block Office.
According to officials, Ojha allegedly disrupted an official meeting, clashed with Block Development Officer staff, and resisted police intervention.
Police reported that Ojha and her associates used abusive language, obstructed official work, and attempted unauthorised videography inside the office.
When officers intervened, three personnel — a Lady Sub‑Inspector, a Lady Home Guard, and an OAPF staff member — sustained injuries and were treated at the Community Health Centre.
Two separate cases were registered: one based on the BDO’s complaint for obstruction and misbehaviour, and another filed by police for alleged assault, obstruction, and intimidation.
Ojha was produced in court but later complained of chest pain and was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital.
She alleged police assault, though preliminary verification found no supporting evidence.
Police maintain their personnel were injured while performing lawful duties. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
