Kataka Former JE Sentenced to Two Years Rigorous Imprisonment in DA Case
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal, has convicted Sibnarayan Pal, former Junior Engineer of RW Section, Badamba in Kataka district, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Pal was charge‑sheeted under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The court sentenced him to two years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,00,000, with a default clause of further imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
Odisha Vigilance has confirmed that it will move the competent authority to stop Pal’s pension benefits in accordance with service rules.
The conviction underscores the state’s continued crackdown on corruption among government officials.
