Kantabanji 12‑Hr Bandh Over Development Demands Disrupts Normal Life in Balangir
Kantabanji, Balangir (Odisha), June 16: Normal life in Kantabanji town came to a standstill on Tuesday as the Kantabanji Truck Owners’ Association enforced a 12‑hour bandh to press for a 15‑point charter of development demands.
Shops and markets remained closed, while vehicular movement was severely disrupted due to road blockades.
Commuters faced major inconvenience as protesters staged demonstrations across the town.
The association has sought the establishment of engineering, agriculture, and nursing colleges, along with industrialisation and infrastructure development in the region.
Several local organisations extended support to the agitation, amplifying the call for long‑pending developmental initiatives.
Emergency services, including ambulances, fire tenders, and electricity department vehicles, were exempted from the bandh.
Police deployment was intensified at protest sites to maintain law and order and prevent untoward incidents.
