EOW Raids Former MP N. Bhaskar Rao’s Residence in ₹80 Crore Rayagada Truck Association Fraud Probe

Rayagada: The Odisha Crime Branch’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Thursday conducted a raid at the residence of former Rajya Sabha MP N. Bhaskar Rao in Rayagada as part of its ongoing investigation into an alleged ₹80 crore financial fraud linked to the Rayagada Truck Owners’ Association.

According to reports, the EOW action is connected to allegations of large-scale financial irregularities and misappropriation of funds belonging to the association.

Investigators suspect that substantial amounts were siphoned off over several years, causing significant losses to members of the organisation.

The case was initially registered at the Rayagada Town Police Station following complaints regarding the alleged diversion of association funds.

Given the scale and complexity of the case, the investigation was later transferred to the Odisha Crime Branch’s Economic Offences Wing for a detailed probe.

A team of EOW officials reportedly carried out searches and collected documents and other materials that may assist in establishing the flow of funds and identifying those responsible for the alleged fraud.

The alleged scam, estimated at around ₹80 crore, has generated considerable public attention due to the involvement of a former Member of Parliament and the impact on members associated with the truck owners’ body.

Officials have indicated that the investigation is continuing, and further action may follow based on evidence gathered during the searches.

The EOW is examining financial records and transaction details to determine the extent of the alleged irregularities.

The case remains under investigation, and authorities are expected to question additional individuals connected to the matter in the coming days.
