CM Majhi Highlights Nutrition & Women’s Welfare at Angan Ka Utsav
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to building a “Suposhit Odisha” during the Angan Ka Utsav programme, highlighting nutrition, women’s empowerment, and healthcare as key pillars of development.
The CM stressed that child nutrition is a shared responsibility of both parents, especially during the crucial first 1,000 days of life.
He praised Anganwadi workers, ASHA and ANM staff for their grassroots contributions in reducing infant and maternal mortality rates.
Odisha has conducted over 46 lakh activities during Poshan Maah and secured the top rank in Aadhaar verification nationwide.
The state has also made significant strides in institutional deliveries and immunisation.
Majhi announced that ₹1 lakh financial aid will be provided to girl children upon graduation, alongside free education up to postgraduate level in government and aided institutions.
He also underlined that 40% of the state budget is dedicated to women’s welfare, with schemes like Subhadra Yojana, Lakhpati Didi, Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangla Yojana.
Healthcare access has been expanded through Ayushman Bharat–Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana, offering cashless treatment at select private hospitals nationwide.
The event featured distribution of school kits, felicitation of fathers promoting healthy food, and recognition of frontline workers.
The CM personally served meals at an Anganwadi centre, reinforcing his government’s focus on inclusive nutrition and welfare.
