Banakalagi Ritual at Jagannath Temple: Darshan Suspended from 6 PM to 11 PM
Puri, Odisha: The sacred Banakalagi Niti was performed today at the Jagannath Temple, marking one of the most revered rituals in the temple calendar.
As part of the ceremony, natural colours and herbal pastes were applied to the divine faces of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra, symbolising renewal and devotion.
To ensure the sanctity of the ritual, public darshan was suspended from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM after the second bhog at the Bhog Mandap.
Temple authorities made special arrangements to facilitate smooth execution, urging devotees to respect the restrictions and plan visits accordingly.
The Banakalagi ritual, deeply rooted in tradition, underscores the temple’s spiritual heritage and continues to draw devotees from across the country.
