Bahuda Yatra 2026: Lords Return to Srimandir Amid Devotion and Tradition

Puri witnessed a grand spectacle as Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra concluded their nine‑day stay at Gundicha Temple and returned to Srimandir during the Bahuda Yatra.

The day began with Mangala Alati and a series of traditional pujas, setting a sacred tone for the return journey.

The Bahuda Pahandi procession commenced at 10:50 AM, with Sudarshan placed on Subhadra’s chariot first, followed by Balabhadra, Subhadra, and finally Lord Jagannath in his distinctive dhadi pahandi style.

Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb performed the Chera Pahanra ritual, sweeping the chariots with a golden broom.

By afternoon, the chariots rolled forward—Taladhwaja at 4:30 PM, Darpadalana at 5:05 PM, and Nandighosha at 5:35 PM.

The journey included sacred pauses: Lord Jagannath accepted podapitha at Mausi Maa Temple, and the Laxmi‑Narayan Bheta ritual was observed near Shree Nahara.

At 10:57 PM, Nandighosha reached Singhadwara, marking the successful completion of Bahuda Yatra 2026.

The city resonated with chants of “Jai Jagannath,” cymbals, and the thunder of chariot wheels, reflecting the devotion and timeless tradition of Puri’s spiritual heritage.
