Bada Maha Snana Ritual Performed at Jagannath Temple After Blood Stains Found
Puri: A special Bada Maha Snana ritual was performed at the Jagannath Temple after blood stains were reportedly discovered inside the Changeda Ghara, near the sanctum’s wooden structures.
According to temple tradition, whenever impurity is detected, the deities undergo the elaborate Bada Maha Snana purification ceremony.
On Tuesday, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra were bathed as part of the ritual.
During the ceremony, public darshan was temporarily suspended, leaving thousands of devotees waiting outside the shrine.
Temple authorities issued an official notice, emphasising the importance of maintaining sanctity and assuring devotees that darshan would resume after the completion of the ritual.
The incident drew large crowds outside the temple, with devotees expressing both concern and reverence for the preservation of the shrine’s purity.
