Vinaytosh Mishra Takes Additional Charge as Odisha DGP, Pledges Focus on Public Safety
Senior IPS officer Vinaytosh Mishra has assumed additional charge as the Director General of Police (DGP), Odisha, following the retirement of Yogesh Bahadur Khurania.
Mishra, who continues to serve as Director General, Crime Branch, was welcomed with a Guard of Honour and paid homage at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial.
Outlining his priorities, Mishra emphasised professional, people‑centric policing with a strong focus on women’s safety, tackling organised crime, building a drug‑free Odisha, and intensifying the fight against cybercrime.
With the festive season approaching, Odisha Police will deploy nearly 60,000 personnel across the state to maintain law and order.
Mishra also highlighted the force’s readiness to assist flood‑affected communities in coordination with ODRAF and district administrations.
Encouraging his colleagues, Mishra described policing as a noble service, urging personnel to uphold honesty, responsibility, and professionalism.
His career spans key postings across Odisha and the CISF, culminating in his appointment as DG, Crime Branch in January 2025.
