STF Odisha Busts Interstate Cannabis Syndicate, Arrests Three, Seizes ₹3.86 Lakh
Odisha’s Special Task Force (STF) has arrested three individuals linked to an interstate cannabis trafficking network.
Acting on STF P.S. Case No. 08 (April 18, 2026), the team seized Rs 3.86 lakh in cash, mobile phones, and other incriminating materials.
The arrests follow the interception of a container vehicle near Pitapali, Khordha district, carrying 227.4 kg of ganja from Adava (Gajapati district) to Rajasthan.
The accused have been identified as:
- Sibaram Biswal (38) of Ganjam district
- Sibaram Patra (33) of Ganjam district
- Kana Mitu alias Manoranjan Sabat (49) of Berhampur, Ganjam district
Investigations revealed their involvement in procurement, concealment, and interstate transport of cannabis.
Searches at Biswal’s residence led to the recovery of cash and evidence tied to the narcotics trade.
Authorities confirmed that Kana Mitu has multiple past criminal cases registered in Dharakote and Berhampur Town police stations, while Biswal has a prior NDPS case in Maharashtra.
The STF plans to produce the accused before the Magistrate, seek custodial remand, and expand the probe into their financial assets and wider network.
