Sawan Somwar 2026: Devotees Throng Shiva Temples Across Odisha
On the second Sawan Somwar of 2026, chants of “Har Har Mahadev” reverberated across Odisha as thousands of devotees gathered at major Shiva temples.
From Bhubaneswar’s Lingaraj Temple to Puri’s Lokanath Temple, and from Nayagarh’s Ladu Baba Temple to Dhenkanal’s Kapilash Temple, the shrines witnessed massive footfall.
In Ganjam district, Kanwariyas carried 108 pots of holy water from the Rushikulya River in a palanquin and embarked on a 100‑km journey to the Mahadev Balunkeshwar Temple in Parla village.
Many devotees arrived the night before to ensure peaceful offerings, while local administrations implemented crowd management and security measures.
The atmosphere was charged with devotion as temples echoed with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Bam Bam Bhole”, reflecting the spiritual fervour of the holy month of Sawan.
