Sudarsan Pattnaik Crafts 7‑Ft Lord Shiva Sand Art on Puri Beach
Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a magnificent 7‑foot Lord Shiva sculpture on Puri beach to mark the second Monday of Sawan (Sawan Somwar).
The artwork features Lord Shiva’s divine face, trident, serpent, and a Kanwariya seeking blessings, accompanied by devotional inscriptions such as “Om Namah Shivaya” and “Bhole Baba Paar Karega.”
Students from Pattnaik’s sand art institute assisted in the creation, which symbolises faith, hope, peace, harmony with nature, and blessings for health and prosperity.
Pattnaik, who has represented India in over 65 international sand art championships and festivals, continues to use his craft to highlight cultural heritage and social themes.
The sculpture has drawn admiration from visitors at Puri beach, adding to Pattnaik’s legacy of devotional and socially conscious creations.
