Ravenshaw University Row: BJD Demands CM’s Action Against MLA Prakash Sethi

The political atmosphere in Cuttack intensified after MLA Prakash Sethi’s remarks about Ravenshaw University sparked outrage among faculty and students.

The BJD’s Cuttack Sadar unit, along with its student and youth wings, staged a protest demanding an apology from Sethi and urging Chief Minister Mohan Majhi to intervene.

Sethi claimed to be a Senate member of Ravenshaw University, but faculty clarified that the Senate committee has not yet been formed.

BJD leaders accused him of irresponsible conduct that tarnished the reputation of Cuttack Sadar and Odisha.

Meanwhile, Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab appealed for restraint, noting that classes were continuing normally and the Vice‑Chancellor would address administrative issues, including hostel wardens stepping down.

The controversy has now taken on a political dimension, with BJD pressing for government action while Mahtab emphasised resolution through the university administration.
