Ratna Bhandar Inventory Resumes at Puri Srimandir

The much‑anticipated inventory of the Ratna Bhandar, the revered treasury of Lord Jagannath’s shrine in Puri, resumed on April 8, 2026.

The exercise, scheduled in phases until April 18, involves meticulous counting and documentation of ornaments, ceremonial attire, and delicate gold items belonging to the deities.

During this period, the temple’s inner sanctum remains closed to devotees, though darshan continues from the outer sanctum.

Authorities have deployed modern techniques, including 3D mapping, photography, and videography, to ensure transparency and create a digital record of the treasures.

Following the inventory, restoration work inside the sanctum will begin.

Three newly crafted Ratna Palankas (ornamental platforms) have also been prepared, blending traditional artistry with heritage preservation.

The initiative aims to safeguard the temple’s treasures while balancing heritage conservation with devotee access.
