Odisha Transport Department Bans Unauthorized Logos on Vehicle Number Plates
The Odisha Transport Department has launched a statewide crackdown on unauthorised logos and labels displayed on private vehicle number plates.
The directive specifically prohibits the use of terms such as “Police,” “OHRC,” “Press,” “Army,” and similar designations without proper authorisation.
Officials have announced a verification drive across the state, running until April 10, 2026, during which Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) will inspect vehicles and penalise violators under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Enforcement teams will remove unauthorised markings and initiate legal action where necessary.
Authorities emphasised that such misuse of official insignia can cause confusion, mislead the public, and allow individuals to gain undue advantage.
The move aims to ensure transparency, fairness, and road safety by reserving official logos exclusively for authorised personnel.
Vehicle owners are urged to check their number plates and comply with the directive to avoid penalties during the ongoing drive.
