Puri Locals Seek Exclusive Darshan at Srimandir

Puri residents have urged the Odisha government to introduce a special darshan facility at Shree Jagannath Temple exclusively for permanent residents.

The demand was formally raised by Puri MLA Sunil Kumar Mohanty, who submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during a felicitation event linked to the removal of the word “Dham” from the Digha Jagannath Temple’s name.

Mohanty emphasised that the identity of Puri city is inseparably tied to Shri Jagannath Dham, yet local residents often face difficulties accessing darshan due to the heavy influx of devotees throughout the year.

He highlighted that a dedicated system would ease the inconvenience faced by locals while preserving the sanctity of the temple.

The event also witnessed the presence of Puri MP Dr Sambit Patra, who supported the sentiment of the residents.

Stakeholders expressed hope that the Chief Minister would positively consider and implement this special darshan arrangement, ensuring smoother access for the people of Puri.
