Prithviraj Harichandan Reviews Odisha Infrastructure Projects, Sets 3‑Year Action Plan

Bhubaneswar: Works, Law and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan chaired a high‑level review meeting to assess the progress of infrastructure projects under the Works Department.

He directed officials to prepare a comprehensive three‑year action plan to ensure the timely completion of ongoing and upcoming projects.

The review highlighted road development as a priority, with emphasis on widening, maintenance, and completion of state highways.

Around 3,300 km of rural roads have been transferred to the Works Department for accelerated development.

Urban traffic decongestion projects in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Puri, Balasore, Keonjhar, and Brahmapur were also reviewed.

Plans to upgrade prominent temples across Odisha and proposals for “Way Side Amenity Centres” along highways to provide basic facilities to commuters were discussed.

Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh presented updates on project execution, while senior engineers and advisors participated in the deliberations.

The Minister emphasised Odisha’s ambition to lead in infrastructure development compared to other states, balancing urban needs, rural connectivity, and cultural heritage preservation.
