Paradip Port Declared India’s Eastern Mega Port, Odisha CM Hails Landmark Recognition
Paradip Port has been officially designated as a Mega Port under the Indian Ports Act, 2025, making it the only such port on India’s eastern coast.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi described the recognition as a historic milestone for the state’s economic growth and maritime prominence.
The CM emphasised Paradip’s strategic role as a gateway for trade, industry, and regional connectivity, noting that the upgraded status will attract domestic and foreign investment, strengthen logistics, and generate employment opportunities.
Majhi linked the development to Odisha’s transformation into a hub for trade and maritime growth, aligning with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for their support, calling the recognition a proud moment for Odisha’s modernisation and sustainable development.
