Odisha Sets New Record with 47 Lakh Saplings Planted in a Day
Odisha has achieved a remarkable milestone by planting over 47 lakh saplings in a single day under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0 campaign, part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan–2026.
The drive, conducted across all districts and Gram Panchayats, saw activities at more than 14,000 sites statewide, involving citizens, volunteers, and administrators.
This year’s achievement surpasses last year’s record of 37 lakh saplings, setting a new benchmark in ecological initiatives.
Minister Rabi Narayan Naik praised the public’s participation and emphasised the importance of nurturing the saplings for long‑term survival.
Commissioner‑cum‑Secretary Girish S.N. commended the teamwork of field staff and volunteers who worked despite adverse weather conditions.
The campaign has transformed tree planting into a popular movement, strengthening Odisha’s green cover and fostering a culture of collective environmental stewardship.
