Odisha Government Enhances Support for Anganwadi Workers with Allowance Hike and DIPTI Portal
Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to grassroots childcare services, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida launched the Angan Ka Utsav campaign under the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department.
The state announced an increase in annual clothing allowance for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers from ₹1,390 to ₹1,500, benefiting nearly 1.48 lakh staff across Odisha.
The initiative involves a budget of ₹22.30 crore, with contributions from both the Centre and the state government.
A key highlight was the introduction of the DIPTI Portal, a first-of-its-kind digital system in Odisha that automates electricity bill payments for Anganwadi Centres.
The portal ensures direct verification, payment, and tracking, reducing administrative burdens and empowering workers to focus on child welfare.
The three-day Angan Ka Utsav (September 27–29) will engage over 37.11 lakh beneficiaries, including 13.03 lakh children aged 3–6 years, across 74,224 centres.
Each day will spotlight themes of nutrition, child learning, and welfare awareness, with activities ranging from cooking contests to storytelling sessions and awareness drives on schemes like POSHAN, SUBHADRA, MAMATA, PM-AWAS, and ADVIKA.
Senior officials, including WCD Commissioner Dr Mrinalini Darswal, WCD Director Monisha Banerjee, and TPCODL CEO Gajanan S. Kale, emphasised the importance of community participation in ensuring the success of these initiatives.
