Orissa High Court Grants Bail to Bhimasen Tudu in Chandrika Hembram Death Case

Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: The Orissa High Court has granted conditional bail to Bhimasen Prasad Tudu, accused in the Chandrika Hembram death case, against two sureties of ₹50,000 each.

The decision comes after earlier bail pleas were rejected due to concerns over witness influence and non‑cooperation with investigators.

Chandrika Hembram, a promising medical student, was found dead in the Kathajodi River near Trisulia on June 4.

Bhimasen, her long‑time friend, was arrested on June 13 and charged under multiple sections, including abetment to suicide.

The case has drawn public attention due to allegations of harassment and a suspected love triangle.

Adding to the controversy, Bhimasen—who had recently joined the Odisha Taxation & Accounts Service (OTAS)—was dismissed from government service five days ago.

The Chief Minister’s Office clarified that he is barred from future government employment.

Police continue to probe forensic and digital evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding Chandrika’s death.
