Odisha Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected as Fresh Low-Pressure Forms Over Bay of Bengal
Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning across Odisha as a fresh low-pressure system is likely to form over the north-west Bay of Bengal on August 12, 2026.
Triggered by an upper-air cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above sea level, the system is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts.
The weather office has forecast that the system will remain active until August 14, 2026, with extended rainfall activity continuing in western and northern Odisha on August 15–16, 2026.
Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to stay alert, particularly in flood-prone and low-lying regions.
This development comes amid the monsoon’s peak activity, raising concerns about possible waterlogging and disruption of normal life in affected districts.
