Odisha Vigilance has arrested five staff members of Kodala Community Health Centre (CHC) in Ganjam district for allegedly misappropriating over Rs 2 crore through fake arrear salary bills between 2023 and 2025.
The arrested staff include Jatin Kumar Bhuyan (Senior Assistant), Bharati Pradhan (MPHW, Female), Gopal Nahak (Attendant), Manu Nayak (Sweeper), and Rama Chandra Mallika (Attendant, PHC Beguniapada).
A case has been registered at Berhampur Vigilance Police Station under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended 2018), along with IPC and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections related to criminal breach of trust, forgery, and conspiracy.
All accused were produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur, and remanded to judicial custody.
Vigilance teams are scrutinising financial records, digital signatures, and transaction details to uncover the full extent of the fraud and identify other officials who may be involved.
This case highlights systemic corruption in the healthcare sector, where funds meant for genuine employee payments were allegedly siphoned off through fraudulent practices.
